Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers is playing in his 1,000th National Hockey League (NHL) game tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Myers becomes the 399th player to hit the 1,000-game mark in the NHL.

The 34-year old has appeared in four games this season thus far, with his fifth game being tonight against the Flyers.

During the 2023-24 season, Myers racked up 24 assists and 29 points in 77 games. He added one assist in 12 Stanley Cup playoff contests.

Myers entered the 2024-25 season after signing a three-year contract extension in the offseason. The deal carries a $3 million AAV through the 2026-27 season. It came after Myers finished playing through his five-year contract that he signed with the Canucks in July 2019.

Myers was oringally selected No. 12 overall in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres after an illustrious Western Hockey League (WHL) career with the Kelowna Rockets where he captured a WHL Championship in 2009.

The 6-foot-8 defenseman has appeared in 1,000 career games with the Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres where he has recorded 93 goals and 278 assists for 371 points and 793 penalty minutes in that frame. Myers captured the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year during the 2009-10 campaign.

Upon signing his extension with Vancouver this summer, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin stated “Tyler has been a valued member of our organization and we are very happy to have him back with our team. He brings a unique skill set to the ice and is a key member of our leadership group. Tyler is a big, strong, physical defenceman who fits in nicely on our backend.”
