Hurricanes sign defenseman Domenick Fensore to one-year contract

The Carolina Hurricanes announced Wednesday the signing of defenseman Domenick Fensore to a one-year, two-way contract that will pay him $775,000 at the NHL level, $70,000 in the minors with a $100,000 guarantee.

The Hurricanes made official the signing of forward Skyler Brind’Amour to a one-year, two way contract. PuckPedia reported late Monday night the Hurricanes signed him to a deal that would pay him $775,000 in the NHL, $90,000 in the minors with a guarantee of $100,000.

The 23-year-old Fensore is coming off a 2024-25 season where he played 67 games with the Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, scoring nine goals and 23 assists for 32 points in 67 regular-season games. He ranked second among defenders on the team in all offensive categories, and first in power-play goals with four.
He also appeared in two NHL games last season, making his debut with April 16 against the Montreal Canadiens.
Through 106 career AHL games, Fensore has recorded 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points.
Taken by the Hurricanes in the third round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Fensore spent four seasons playing college hockey with Boston University before turning professional. In 122 career NCAA games, he scored 19 goals and 66 assists for 85 points. He served as captain for the Boston Terriers in 2022-23, helping the team earn a Hockey East regular-season title, the Hockey East tournament title and their first Frozen Four appearance since 2015.
The Hurricanes went 47-30-5 with 99 points in 2024-25, finishing second in the Metropolitan Division. After eliminating both the New Jersey Devils and Washington Capitals, Carolina was eliminated in five games by the Florida Panthers.
Forward Sebastian Aho led the team in points with 74, scoring 29 goals and 45 assists. Seth Jarvis led the team in goals with 32.
