Carolina Hurricanes sign Eric Robinson to one-year contract
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed depth forward Eric Robinson to a one-year contract worth $950,000 for the 2024-25 NHL season.
“Eric is an experienced forward who will add speed and physicality to our lineup,” GM Eric Tulsky said in a team release. “He has also shown that he can contribute offensively, and we are glad to have him in Carolina.”
Robinson split the 2023-24 season between the Buffalo Sabres, Columbus Blue Jackets and their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters. Robinson mainly played for the Sabres after an early season trade, scoring two goals and nine points in 40 games. He had an additional one goal in seven games with Columbus and four points in nine AHL games with the Blue Jackets.
Since turning pro in 2018, Robinson has played the majority of his time in the NHL. He played all 56 games with the Blue Jackets in 2020-21, registering 18 points, before upping the ante with 10 goals and 27 points in 2021-22. The next season – his last full year with Columbus – he set a new personal best with 12 goals.
Robinson spent four years with Princeton University, serving as captain in 2017-18. He won the ECAC championship that year before making his NHL debut before the conclusion of the season. In 2021, Robinson represented the United States for the first time, winning bronze at the World Championship.
The Hurricanes have a few busy weeks ahead, with new deals needed for UFAs Seth Jarvis, Jack Drury and Dylan Coghlan. Martin Necas also appears to be on the way out via trade, but also needs a new deal as an RFA.
