The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forwards Kieffer Bellows and Jayden Halbgewachs to professional tryout offers ahead of the start of the 2023-24 training camp.

Bellows is coming off a season that saw him record three points in 28 games between the New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers. It was Bellows’ fourth NHL season, with the Edina, Minnesota native scoring a career-best six goals and 19 points in 45 games in 2021-22. Drafted 19th overall in 2016, Bellows is best remembered for his tremendous 2018 World Junior Championship tournament, scoring nine goals nad 10 points with USA.

Halbgewachs is attempting a North American comeback after spending last year with the Vaxjo Lakers in Sweden. He had 10 goals and 20 points en route to an SHL title. An undrafted free agent signing by San Jose in 2017, Halbgewachs registered an assist in his second NHL game back on Dec. 28, 2021, his lone point in three games to date. The 26-year-old winger has 55 goals and 122 points in 203 games over four seasons with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.

The Hurricanes have been busy on the PTO front, signing forwards Cory Conacher, Brendan Perlini and Nick Shore, as well as defenseman Nathan Beaulieu. Carolina brought three players on PTOs last year and ultimately signed Calvin De Haan and Derek Stepan to deals.
