Blackhawks select Nathan Behm No. 66 overall in 2025 NHL Draft

The Chicago Blackhawks have selected winger Nathan Behm with the 66th overall selection of the 2025 NHL Draft on Saturday at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Behm was projected to be selected 52nd overall on average across all of the main draft rankings, going as high as 36th and as low as 94th. He was also ranked 44th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting. Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis projected him to go on the higher end at 40th overall.

Ellis had this to say about Behm in his most recent draft rankings:

“Behm had a breakout season with the Blazers, which saw him finish with more than 30 goals and more than 60 points. He has always been a decent goal scorer at every level, but he has found a way to put more muscle behind his shot while being better defensively, too. His skating is still a work in progress – he’s not particularly quick and can be beaten by mid-range skaters. But his play with the puck has been incredible this year and I think there’s some serious potential as a secondary scorer.”

Behm spent the entirety of his 2024-25 season with the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League, where he had 31 goals and 35 assists for 66 points in 59 games. His performance had him either tied or in sole possession of second place in goals, assists, and points on the Blazers, all behind Emmitt Finnie, who was the 2023 seventh-round pick for the Detroit Red Wings.

However, Behm’s performance wasn’t enough to get the Blazers to the playoffs, as their 24-39-5 record was only good enough for 10th in the Western Conference.

This season was Behm’s third in the WHL with the Blazers, having first joined the team late in the 2022-23 season. He has 43 goals and 55 assists for 98 points in 133 regular-season games in his career, and just one playoff game where he was held pointless.
