The Chicago Blackhawks announced Monday that center Philipp Kurashev has been placed on the injured reserve retroactive to February 27 due to a hand injury. In a corresponding roster move, defenseman Louis Crevier has been recalled from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Through 42 appearances with the Blackhawks this season, Kurashev has recorded six goals and four assists for 10 points alongside 14 penalty minutes and a minus-29 rating. Currently skating in his fifth season with the Blackhawks, Kurashev set career highs in all major offensive categories a year ago when he finished with 18 goals and 36 assists for 54 points coming in 75 games.

Originally chosen by Chicago in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, the 25-year-old Swiss-born forward has totaled 47 goals and 79 assists for 126 points through 308 career contests.

Per PuckPedia, Kurashev is in the final year of a two-year pact that carries a $2.25-million annual average and can become a restricted free agent in July.

For Crevier, the 23-year-old Quebec-born blue-liner rejoins the Blackhawks following 23 appearances with the club earlier this season in which he scored three times and added one assist for four points alongside 10 penalty minutes and a minus-one rating. Through 15 showings with Rockford this season, the hulking rearguard has notched one goal and three assists for four points with six penalty minutes and a plus-one mark. A 2020 seventh-round selection by the Blackhawks, Crevier has totaled 47 NHL appearances in which he has tallied three goals and four assists for seven points.

For the Blackhawks, on the season the club sits second-to-last in the Western Conference with an 18-35-7 record and 43 points. Coming away with a 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, the Blackhawks will try for their second-straight victory when the club returns to the ice Monday to take on the Los Angeles Kings.
