Blackhawks place Louis Crevier on injured reserve; Artyom Levshunov recalled

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed defenseman Louis Crevier on the injured reserve due to a concussion, reports Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Facing the Florida Panthers on Saturday, Crevier exited early in the first period and did not return after being boarded by Panthers left winger Jonah Gadjovich. In all, Crevier wrapped up the contest with just 2:39 in ice time and a plus-one rating.
Skating in his second season with the Blackhawks, Crevier has made 23 appearances in which he has registered three goals and one assist for four points with 10 penalty minutes and a minus-one rating. This season, Crevier has also seen 11 showings with the Rockford IceHogs, the Blackhawks’ top minor-league affiliate, in which he has notched one assist, four penalty minutes, and a minus-two rating.
Originally chosen by Chicago in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft, the 23-year-old Quebec City native debuted with the Blackhawks a year ago where through 24 contests he finished with three points, four penalty minutes, and a minus-16 mark.
With Crevier sidelined, the Blackhawks have recalled Artyom Levshunov from the IceHogs. However, Pope notes that the recall is seen as an opportunity for Levshunov to take part in practices with the Blackhawks while the AHL enters its All-Star break. Levshunov is not expected to seen any NHL action before returning to Rockford.
Chosen second overall by the Blackhawks in last summer’s NHL Draft, Levshunov has made 38 appearances with the IceHogs this season in which he has tallied three goals and 10 assists for 13 points with 38 penalty minutes. A graduate of the NCAA’s Michigan State Spartans, Levshunov wrapped up 2023-24 with near point-per-game production counting nine goals and 26 assists coming in 38 games.
On the season, the Blackhawks sit second-to-last in the Western Conference with a 16-31-5 record and 37 points.
