The Chicago Blackhawks have selected left-handed center Sacha Boisvert with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Boisvert, 18, racked up 36 goals and 68 points in 61 USHL games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks during the 2023-24 regular season and was named to the league’s Third All-Star Team. The Trois-Riviéres, Quebec product added three assists in eight games with the Lumberjacks during the 2024 USHL playoffs.

Here’s what Daily Faceoff‘s Steven Ellis has to say about Boisvert, who slotted in at No. 25 on his final 2024 NHL Draft rankings:

“Boisvert is relied on heavily to do a bit of everything in Muskegon. So it’s impressive that he managed to put up 36 goals and 68 points in 61 games while still being the team’s best two-way forward with great defensive awareness. Boisvert has good skill, competitiveness and reads plays as well as any center in the draft. I don’t think he’ll be a high-end scorer in the NHL, but 50 points would be an attainable goal.”

Boisvert also spent his draft-minus-one season with the Lumberjacks, managing 17 goals and 45 points in 57 games and being named to the league’s Second All-Rookie Team. The Lumberjacks named Boisvert an alternate captain for his second season with the team.

The 6’2″, 183-pound center also collected two points (one goal, one assist) in seven games with Team Canada at the 2023 U-17 World Hockey Challenge.

Boisvert is committed to attending the University of North Dakota and is expected to begin playing for the Fighting Hawks in the 2024-25 season. North Dakota’s 2024 freshman class is slated to include first-year-eligible draft prospects Boisvert, EJ Emery, and Mac Swanson.

The Blackhawks finished with a 23-53-6 record in the 2023-24 season, giving them 52 points which was good enough for 31st in the league.
