Blackhawks unveil centennial jersey for 2025-26

The Chicago Blackhawks have not significantly changed their jersey design since 1955 and will not be making many major alterations when they debut their newest look in their centennial 2025-26 season.

Ahead of Friday’s NHL Draft, the Blackhawks unveiled their new look, adding a gold trim to the classic red, white and black look, as well as the 100th anniversary patch on the shoulder, as previously announced.

Small details will be different on the new jersey, with the gold trim bordering the logo, a lace-up collar, and the years of the franchise’s six Stanley Cup championships on the inside of the hem at the bottom of the jersey.

“Always original,” a nod to their status among the NHL’s Original Six, tapers the inside of the collar as well.

“In 1955, we created something special—a red sweater with black and white stripes that would become the most beloved and iconic jersey in all of sports. Seventy years later, it remains largely unchanged, proving that true classics transcend trends,” the team said in its announcement.

“This isn’t a new jersey—it’s our legendary sweater elevated for a legendary milestone.”

Awarded an NHL club on May 15, 1926, the Blackhawks played their first season in 2026-27 as one of 10 teams in the league, and were one of the six teams to continue through the 25 years between 1942 and 1967, establishing themselves as part of the Original Six.

Despite being amid a rebuild and finishing outside the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the last five seasons, the Blackhawks will hope for improvement in 2025-26, especially with star forward Conor Bedard entering his third season in the league, already with 45 goals and 128 points in 150 regular-season games.

At the same time, expect to see the Blackhawks jersey on display at the NHL Draft in LA as the club introduces the newest prospects to the organization.
