A few players across training camps around the NHL were placed on waivers. On Saturday, 14 names were added to the wire, giving 31 other teams a chance to take them.

A couple of former NHL regulars were among the players listed. The Colorado Avalanche placed forward Chris Wagner on waivers. The 33-year-old was placed on waivers a few times throughout the 2023-24 season, spending a good chunk of time with the Avalanche’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. He did sign a one-year contract extension with Colorado last April.

Last season, Wagner appeared in 13 games with the Avs, the most in a single season in his NHL career since he played 41 games for the Boston Bruins during the 2020-21 campaign. In 373 career games, the Walpole, Massachusetts native has scored 38 goals and 65 assists for 65 points. Wagner has also scored eight points in 61 postseason games.

The Seattle Kraken waived defenseman Josh Mahura. The St. Albert, Alberta native signed a one-year, league-minimum contract with the team this past offseason. It has been just a couple of years since Josh Mahura played every game of the 2022-23 season with the Florida Panthers. However, in 2023-24, the 26-year-old was a healthy scratch for a good chunk of the season, along with missing a month due to a lower-body injury. Mahura ended up playing 30 games for the Cats, registering nine assists.

Mahura has played in 191 NHL games, scoring 10 goals and 35 assists for 45 points. He has also appeared in 21 playoff games, all of which came in the 2023 postseason with the Panthers, picking up three assists.

Here is the full list of players placed on waivers on Saturday:

Anaheim Ducks: Oscar Dansk
Colorado Avalanche: T.J. Tynan, Chris Wagner
Dallas Stars: Kyle Capobianco, Magnus Hellberg, Cameron Hughes, Kole Lind, Alex Petrovic, Emilio Pettersen
Florida Panthers: Matt Kiersted
Minnesota Wild: Hunter Jones
New York Rangers: Connor Mackey

The 17 players added to waivers is a drop-off from the 25 that were placed on the wire on Friday. Players from the Ducks, Boston Bruins, Panthers, Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals were put on waivers, with the Avalanche claiming John Ludvig being claimed by the Penguins. All other players cleared.
