The Colorado Avalanche announced Friday the signing of forward Alex Barre-Boulet to a one-year, two-way contract.

According to PuckPedia, the deal will pay Barre-Boulet $775,000 at the NHL level, $475,000 in the minors with $500,000 guaranteed.

Barre-Boulet, 28, spent most of the 2024-25 season with the Montreal Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, scoring 22 goals and recording 41 assists for 63 points in 64 regular-season games. In the Calder Cup Playoffs, he finished with three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 13 games.

He also appeared in two regular-season games with the Canadiens.

Through seven AHL seasons, Barre-Boulet has 135 goals and 230 assists for 365 points in 358 regular-season games with the Rocket and Syracuse Crunch. He’s also scored nine goals and recorded 24 assists for 33 points in 35 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Barre-Boulet has dressed in 70 career NHL games with the Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and Seattle Kraken, recording 12 goals and six assists for 18 points.

An undrafted forward, Barre-Boulet spent four seasons in the QMJHL with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, finishing with 140 goals and 197 assists for 337 points in 263 career regular-season games. In 43 QMJHL Playoff games, he scored 28 goals and added 32 assists for 60 points.

His best single season came in 2017-18 with the Armada, leading the team in all offensive categories with 53 goals and 63 assists for 116 points. He also recorded 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points in 19 QMJHL Playoff games that spring.
