Colorado Avalanche sign free agents Riley Tufte, Jack Ahcan, Corey Schueneman & two others

Colorado Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland announced that the club has signed free-agents Riley Tufte, Jack Ahcan, Corey Schueneman, Chris Wagner and goaltender Arvid Holm.

Tufte is signing a one-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000. He will become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2023-24 season.

While Ahcan is signing a two-year, $1.5 million contract that carries a cap hit of $775,000 AAV.

Schueneman signed a one-year, $775,000 AAV contract. Wagner and Holm each signed for one year at $775,000 AAV as well.

Tufte spent the 2022-23 season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars farm team. Tufte notched 19 goals and 35 points in 63 games and added three assists in the playoffs. He also saw three games of NHL action but did not collect a point. The 6-foot-6 forward has bounced up and down between the AHL and NHL, appearing in just 13 NHL games, collecting one goal.

Ahcan, who hails from Savage, Minnesota, notched 36 points in 68 games this past season with the Providence Bruins in the AHL. He has appeared in nine NHL games, scoring one goal in that frame

Schueneman spent the 2022-23 season with the Montreal Canadiens farm team, the Laval Rocket; he registered 23 points in 62 games. He also appeared in seven games with the Canadiens, recording one assist. He has appeared in 31 career NHL games with Montreal, tallying two goals and seven points.

Wagner also spent the 2022-23 campaign with Providence; he notched 19 goals and 31 points in 62 games with the Bruins. Wagner has seen NHL action, appearing in 360 career games with the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders and Boston Bruins. In 2018-19 while with Boston, he recorded a career-high 12 goals and 19 points in 76 games.

Meanwhile, Holm served as a goaltender with the Winnipeg Jets AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. The 24-year-old Swede compiled a record of 18-11-4 to go with a .911 save percentage.
