Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews tease new McDonald’s ad
McDonald’s Canada released a teaser on TikTok for a new advertising campaign centered around Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid and Toronto Maple Leafs’ captain Auston Matthews.

The ad starts with McDavid taking slap shots on an empty rink, interrupted by Matthews asking him what’s in the McDonald’s bag.
“Lunch,” McDavid replies. “Big Mac.”
“Play you for it,” Matthews said.
“You’re on. First one to miss watches the winner eat.”
The 13-second clip ends with a graphic reading, “the puck drops” on Jan. 7, 2025. The post’s caption asks “are u ready for a barn burner?”
McDavid has 15 goals and 39 assists for 54 points in 36 regular-season games. The three-time Hart Trophy winner has scored 350 goals, as well as 686 assists for 1,036 points in 681 career regular-season games.
McDavid, 27, has also recorded 37 goals and 80 assists for 117 points in 74 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Meanwhile, Matthews has 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 26 regular-season games in 2024-25. Through nine NHL seasons, the three-time Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy winner has 380 goals and 297 assists for 677 points in 588 career games.
In 55 Stanley Cup Playoff games, Matthews has 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points.
The Oilers are 24-12-3 with 51 points, third in the Pacific Division. Edmonton has won three straight games and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. Their next game is Tuesday against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.
As for the Leafs, they’re 26-13-2 with 54 points, first in the Atlantic Division. Toronto has won four straight games and are 7-3-0 in their last 10. The Leafs’ next game is also Tuesday, as they head to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
