For the Calgary Flames, Tuesday’s 6-3 win over the Ottawa Senators put them at 18-18-5, getting them to the .500 mark but still sixth in the Pacific Division and a long way from a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Nearing the halfway mark of the 2023-24 regular season, fans around the league are now wondering if the Flames will start making players available for trade, even though we’re two months away from the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.

On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss a number of players who could be on the move, and if GM Craig Conroy has already let the rest of the league know who’s available.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Yesterday, we teased Frank’s new trade targets board, which is available at DailyFaceoff.com, and three of the top five names are still Calgary Flames: Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin.

We get the sense that Conroy is going to be active at some point, but what are the chances he jumps the market and makes a move sooner rather than later?

Frank Seravalli: If it were up to Conroy, based on what we’ve seen up to this point, I think he would have liked to have made a move a month ago. I don’t think he hasn’t made one because he’s not ready to.

The Flames have struggled this year. They’ve played well at times but when you look at the standings, they’re .500 on the dot and have been sub-.500 for most of the year, and they still have five teams to climb over to maybe pry out the last Wild Card spot.

You’re not winning with these guys, so why would you re-sign the bulk of them to get your team together? I think both he and ownership understand that and they’re ready to make a move. It’s that other GMs around the league aren’t ready to make an offer.
