The hottest commodity on the coaching market will meet with another potential suitor.

Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli reports that former NHL head coach Craig Berube is meeting the Winnipeg Jets virtually over Zoom Tuesday for an interview – originally thought to be an in-person meeting.

Berube has been busy over the last few weeks, as head coaching vacancies around the NHL have opened since the regular season came to a close. The Calahoo, Alberta native has reportedly met with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and New Jersey Devils, having extensive conversations with each team.

While things might not have ended well at his last board of call, Berube has a championship pedigree, leading the St. Louis Blues to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in 2019, and four consecutive playoff appearances. Berube was fired by the Blues on December 12, 2023.

Berube was also the head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers from 2013 to 2015.

With Berube meeting with the Jets’ brass, it might be a sign that the team is not fully in favor of promoting associate coach Scott Arniel. Arniel had stepped in and served as head coach for the Jets when Rick Bowness had to step away from the team a couple of times, including this past March when Bowness needed to have a medical procedure.

The Jets job opened up after Bowness announced his retirement earlier this month. In two seasons with Winnipeg, Bowness led the team to the playoffs, but lost in the first round both years. In his last five seasons as a head coach, Bowness led his teams to the postseason four times, helping the Dallas Stars make it to the Finals in 2020.
