New Acquisitions Kubalik, and Husso lead Wings over Ducks

Ville Husso stopped 32 of 33 shots (.970 SV%) for his second victory, as the Red Wings handled the Anaheim Ducks easily in a 5-1 victory Sunday. Fellow offseason acquisition Dominik Kubalik added a goal (3) and two assists to go along with a game-high six SOG as he collected his eighth point in five games (3G/5A).

Dylan Larkin was the lone other Red Wing to finish with multiple points, as he had a goal (3) and an assist (4), while nine other Detroit skaters got on the scoresheet with at least a point in a spread-out scoring effort. Trevor Zegras would be the only Duck to beat Husso, scoring Anaheim’s only goal (3) five minutes into the game. John Gibson faced 34 or more shots for his fourth time in five starts, as he allowed five goals on 41 shots (.878 SV%).

Knight, Panthers hold off Lee and the Islanders at home in a low-scoring affair

Florida spread the scoring out, with contributions from unexpected sources as Eetu Loustarinen (2), Anton Lundell (1), and Ryan Lomberg (1) scored the Panthers’ goals. Anders Lee did his best to fight back for New York, scoring both of their goals (3,4) on the powerplay in the losing effort, with Matthew Barzal adding assists on each (2A). Semyon Varlamov allowed three goals on 32 shots (.906 SV%) as he took his first loss of the season.

Artemi Panarin scored New York’s only goal (4) with an unassisted powerplay goal near the end of the second period.

Blackhawks rally in third to top Kraken in a goal-filled showdown

It took two unanswered third-period goals for the Chicago Blackhawks to win their third straight game as they topped the Seattle Kraken 5-4.

Alex Stalock continued his strong return to the NHL, earning his second win of the year in a 30-save effort (.882 SV). Tyler Johnson had two goals (1,2) and a team-high four SOG in the win, while Seth Jones and Patrick Kane added multiple powerplay assists to join him as the Blackhawks’ multi-point scorers. Martin Jones was the losing goaltender as he struggled throughout, allowing five goals on 27 shots (.815 SV%). Jared McCann was the only Seattle player with more than one point as he had a goal (3) and an assist to go along with his team-leading 4 SOG. Matty Beniers (2), Andre Burakovsky (3) and Vince Dunn (1) each scored a goal for the Kraken in the loss.
