Things are opening up once again in the NHL DFS space, as we’ve got a great eight-game slate on our hands. As ownership flocks to spots like Washington’s top line and Boston’s second, there are tons of other spots where you can find some great value on this slate.

And I’m here to help you find some of the best spots for your DFS lineups.

This value sheet includes salaries, and projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, as well as three punt options for defensemen.

These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.

FULL DFO Daily Projections

Ryan McLeod (C, EDM) – vs NYR – (DK-$2,800 / FD $4,100)
DFO Projection:
DK-6.6 / FD-8.7

In terms of depth plays on this slate, McLeod is jumping on both sites as great value. While he and his linemates on the Oilers’ third line — Corey Perry and Dylan Holloway — might not get the most ice time, they’re a group that could put the puck in the net at any time, and McLeod himself has had a great run as of late. The line itself has a great matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, and all it takes is a point and a few shots to pay off.

Anthony Mantha (W, WSH) – vs MTL – ($3,100 / $4,300)
DFO Projection: DK-9 / FD-11.9

It’s hard to ignore the Capitals in a great matchup tonight against the Montreal Canadiens, and Mantha is flying under the radar on this slate. He has strong shot volume and good offensive production, and he and his linemates have a strong matchup. The best part? Mantha is projecting for under one percent ownership and has 10 goals and 17 points in 21 games against the Habs.

Jesper Bratt (W, COL) – vs NJD – ($6,600 / $7,900)
DFO Projection: DK-14 / FD-18.2

While Bratt is coming in around 10 percent ownership tonight, he looks to be an excellent play against the Colorado Avalanche. Both they and the Devils have allowed over 3 goals against per 60 this season, among the bottom half of the league. Bratt and his linemates on New Jersey’s top line have a great matchup tonight, and he brings strong scoring production, and great shot volume.

Connor Clifton (D, BUF) vs DAL ($2,500 / $3,600)
DFO Projection: DK-5.7 / FD-7.5

Bumped up to the Sabres’ second line and right near the league minimum on both sites, Clifton should have a great chance to provide some fantasy production tonight. He’s blocked 5.2 shots against per hour, and against a team like the Stars who fire at will, he’s live for the shot block bonus on DraftKings.

Marcus Pettersson (D, PIT) vs WPG ($3,600 / $4,400)
DFO Projection: DK-8.1 / FD-10.7

I’ll admit Pettersson might not be my favorite play on this slate, or in general this year, but he’s popping on the DFO Charts tonight and hard to ignore. He has good shot volume and solid block volume and against a high-octane Winnipeg Jets team, he had a good chance to get in the mix.

Top Punt Defensemen

  1. Jalen Chatfield, CAR ($2,700/ $3,800): DK-6.4 / FD-8.1
  2. Josh Manson, COL ($3,800/$4,100): DK-7.3 / FD-9.4
  3. Nate Schmidt, WPG ($2,600/$3,700): DK-5.4 / FD-6.9
