Oh boy, what a three-game slate we have tonight. You’ve got a high-tempo game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars, what should be a slugfest between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning, and a game that will define the slate between the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild. With the Wild drawing gobs of ownership, where are some spots we can find value tonight?
This value sheet includes salaries, and projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, as well as three punt options for defensemen. These largely predicate around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots, and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus’ on DraftKings.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
FULL DFO Daily Projections
Jason Dickinson (C, CHI) – vs MIN – (DK-$4,100 / FD $4,600)
DFO Projection: DK-8.7 / FD-11.4
I bet you weren’t expecting a player from Chicago to be the first player in this article today, and quite honestly, neither was I. But Jason Dickinson is popping in the value charts tonight, projected to pay off his salary at around seven percent ownership. With 15 goals and 25 points in 50 games this year, he’s providing Chicago with some offence and has a solid matchup against the Minnesota Wild tonight. You’re banking on a point or two for him to hit the value tonight, so play with caution.
Nikita Kucherov (W, TBL) – vs NYR- ($9,900 / $10,100)
DFO Projection: DK-15.3 / FD-20.5
Fine. If nobody else wants to play Nikita Kucherov and the Lightning’s top line, I will. While New York has largely had Tampa’s number in recent years, Kucherov has 25 points in 25 games against them in the regular season, and another 16 points in 13 playoff games. He’s one of the league’s top scorers, making him live for a big night any night, and is carrying less than 10 percent ownership. On a three-game slate like this, that’s far too low.
Brock Faber (D, MIN) – @ CHI – ($5,000 / $5,700)
DFO Projection: DK-11.7 / FD-15.6
While I’ll likely be under on Minnesota’s monster ownership tonight, one player I won’t be under on is Brock Faber, who is projecting for a monster night. And no surprise, as the rookie has been dynamite for the Wild this season playing big minutes and producing. He’s a great play tonight with, or without other Minnesota players.
Timothy Liljegren (D, TOR) – vs DAL – ($3,500 / $4,200)
DFO Projection: DK-7.2 / FD-9.2
Liljegren continues to be a strong play, getting 19 minutes a night blocking a ton of shots for the Leafs. he can provide some offence here and there, too, and should fare well in an up-tempo game tonight against the Stars.
