Welcome to Daily Faceoff’s NHL DFS Value Plays, where five days a week from Monday to Friday, I break down hockey’s main slate, looking for the top value plays.

This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel for the top forward and defensemen values, as well as honourable mention forwards and three punt options for blue liners. While the main value plays look at spots to get different and their upside, the others revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings, where all the value plays are directed for.

These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game samples have too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.

Blake Coleman (W, CGY2, PP2) – (DK-$4,400 / FD $5,600)
Projected points: DK – 9.1 / FD –
11.2

The Calgary Flames are on home ice tonight, and that’s where they do their best cooking — Blake Coleman included. He averaged 9.7 DraftKings points per game at home vs. 7.6 on the road, with seven of his 10 goals on the year coming on Saddledome ice. He and the Flames second line are seeing lots of ownership on this big slate, so make sure to find some other lower owned play to mix into your lineup.

Viktor Arvidsson (W, EDM1, PP1) — ($4,300 / $5,600)
Projected points: 9.4 /
11.5

Someone who won’t fit that bill is Arvidsson, who is also seeing a fair amount of ownership tonight. His price is starting to creep up as DraftKings catches up to his recent success, but he’s continuing to be a strong play, averaging 8.6 DKFPPG over his last 10 games, scoring two goals and six points. He’s got solid shot volume, hitting the bonus in two of his last 10 games, and three or more in five of those.

Dante Fabbro (D, CBJ-1) — ($3,800 / $5,000)
Projected points: 8.1 /
7.7

Fabbro has played in three games against the Carolina Hurricanes this season, hitting the shot block bonus in each of them, and averaging 13.6 DKFPPG. He’s eating pucks left, right and center with 8.4 blocks per hour over his last 20 games, the third most of any defenceman on the slate. He’ll be live for it once again tonight and is projecting for under one percent ownership.

Radko Gudas (D, ANA-1) — ($3,600 / $4,600)
Projected points: 7.2 /
7.7

Another player who makes a living eating pucks is Gudas, with 6.2 per hour over his last 20, but he adds in some solid shot volume (5.3 per hour), raising his floor and making him a strong option tonight.

Honourable mention forwards

  1. Brandon Saad (W, STL2, PP1) — ($2,700/$4,300) — Projected points: DK – 6.0 / FD – 7.4
  2. Fedor Svechkov (C, NSH3, PP2) ($3,000/$3,900) — 5.5 / 7.0

Top Punt Defensemen

  1. Jared Spurgeon (MIN-1, PP1) — ($4,100/$5,100) — Projected points: DK – 8.7 / FD – 10.1
  2. Nick Blankenburg (NSH-2) — ($2,600/$) — 5.8 / 6.8
