Daily Faceoff NHL DFS Value Plays — March 3rd

Welcome to Daily Faceoff’s NHL DFS Value Plays, where five days a week from Monday to Friday, I break down hockey’s main slate, looking for the top value plays.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel for the top forward and defensemen values, as well as honourable mention forwards and three punt options for blue liners. While the main value plays look at spots to get different and their upside, the others revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings, where all the value plays are directed for.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game samples have too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Warren Foegele (W, LAK3, PP2) — ($5,300 / $)
Projected points: DK – 9.4 / FD – 12.0
It’s been shot volume city for Warren Foegele as of late, taking 9.4 shots on goal per hour over his last 20 games, averaging 2.5 per game. That’s solid given he’s averaging 16 and a half minutes. While he and his linemates on the Kings’ third line have the toughest matchup of any, he’s running hot coming into tonight’s game against the Blackhawks with five goals and eight points in his last 10 games, averaging 11.8 DraftKings points.
Christian Dvorak (C, MTL3) – (DK-$3,600 / FD $)
Projected points: 6.5 / 8.3
I’ll be honest: I don’t love this play tonight as Christian Dvorak hasn’t been the most productive as of late, but he has a strong matchup tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. One reason I do like this play, though, is that he’s been great against the Sabres throughout his career, scoring two goals and nine points in 14 games. Finding cheap centers isn’t all that easy these days, and Dvorak fits the bill.
Zac Jones (D, NYR-3, PP1) — ($2,800 / $)
Projected points: 4.7 / 6.0
There are a lot of people who are going to flock to Zac Jones tonight given the massive minutes he played Sunday against the Predators, though he only blocked two shots. Even still, he’s on the top power play unit, and is likely to see over 20 minutes again tonight. Other solid options on the Rangers blue line are Braden Schneider and K’Andre Miller, who aren’t all that much more expensive.
Philippe Myers (D, TOR-2) — ($3,000 / $)
Projected points: 6.0 / 7.4
Myers is a volume machine with 6.3 shots on goal per hour and 4.9 blocks per hour over his last 20 games, hitting the shot bonus Sunday against the Penguins. He’s a low owned play with solid upside tonight.
Honourable mention forwards
- Will Cuylle (W, NYR2, PP2) — ($4,200/$) — Projected points: DK – 7.1 / FD – 9.0
- Mackie Samoskevich (W, FLA, PP1) — ($3,800/$) — 6.6 / 8.4
Top punt defensemen
- Wyatt Kaiser (CHI-3) — ($2,800/$) — Projected points: DK – 5.5 / FD – 6.6
- Jack Thompson (SJS-3) — ($2,700/$) — 4.9 / 6.0
