Daily Faceoff NHL DFS Value Plays — October 16th
Welcome to Daily Faceoff’s NHL DFS Value Plays, where five days a week from Monday to Friday, I break down hockey’s main slate, looking for the top value plays.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel for the top forward and defensemen values, as well as honourable mention forwards and three punt options for blue liners. While the main value plays look at spots to get different and their upside, the others revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings, where all the value plays are directed for.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Ross Colton (W, COL1, PP1) – vs. BOS – (DK-$3,800 / FD $4,600)
DFO Projection: DK – 8.8 / FD – 11.4
Elevated to the Colorado Avalanche’s top line, Colton is in a great spot tonight to produce alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. They grade out as the top line to target, and Colton’s presence helps bring the cost of a full stack down a bit. There are some solid value spots on tonight’s four-game slate, so rest assured you can find a way to make their $22,200 salary on DraftKings fit.
Jack Quinn (W, BUF2, PP2) – @ PIT – ($3,300 / $4,100)
DFO Projection: DK – 7.9/ FD – 10.5
Speaking of those value spots, BUF2 is one of them as the 10th best line on the slate to target. Quinn, specifically, looks like the strongest value play between he, Zach Benson and Dylan Cozens, the latter of whom makes my honourable mentions list. They carry one of the best matchup scores on the slate and should be in a prime position to produce tonight.
Brandt Clarke (D, LAK-1, PP1) – @ TOR – ($3,500 / $5,100)
DFO Projection: DK – 9.3 / FD – 12.0
Hello, Brandt Clarke. The young blueliner exploded on Monday with a three-assist performance against the Ottawa Senators, all three of which coming on the power play unit he quarter backs. His price tag is simply too low right now, and the Los Angeles Kings man advantage unit grades out as the third best to target on this slate.
Honourable mention forwards
- Robby Fabbri (W, ANA2) ($2,600/$3,800): DK – 7.6 / FD – 10.0
- Calum Ritchie (W, COL2, PP2) ($2,900/$3,900): DK – 7.9 / FD – 9.7
- Dylan Cozens (C, BUF2, PP1) ($4,300/$5,100): DK – 8.7 / FD – 11.2
Top Punt Defensemen
- Pavel Mintyukov (ANA-3, PP2) ($2,800/$4,600): DK – 7.8 / FD – 10.3
- Oliver Ekman-Larsson (TOR-2, PP1) ($3,000/$4,100): DK – 7.0 / FD – 9.1
- Andrew Peeke (BUF-3) ($2,600/$3,600): DK – 5.7 / FD – 7.3
