Welcome to Daily Faceoff’s NHL DFS Value Plays, where five days a week from Monday to Friday, I break down hockey’s main slate, looking for the top value plays.

This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel for the top forward and defensemen values, as well as honourable mention forwards and three punt options for blue liners. While the main value plays look at spots to get different and their upside, the others revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings, where all the value plays are directed for.

These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game samples have too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.

Martin Necas (W, CAR2, PP1) – (DK-$4,300 / FD $6,200)
DFO Projection: DK – 9.6/ FD –
12.4

The Carolina Hurricanes have mixed up their lines ahead of tonight’s game against the red hot Calgary Flames, and Necas is continuing to pop from a value perspective. He maintains a prescence on the top power play unit, adding to his ice-time totals, and will be the defacto trigger man on the Hurricanes’ second line.

Warren Foegele (W, LAK3) – (DK-$2,900 / FD $4,600)
DFO Projection: DK – 8.5/ FD –
10.9

Foegele finally broke out with a goal against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, and will look to keep up the production in a great matchup against the San Jose Sharks. In thanks to his shot volume, he has a solid floor and has averaged 6.9 DraftKings points per game this season. He also has some correlation at five-on-five with one of our top value play defencemen tonight, Brandt Clarke.

Mikhail Sergachev (D, UTA-1) ($5,400 / $6,600)
DFO Projection: DK – 9.2 / FD
12.0

Before we get to Clarke, we have to talk about Mikhail Sergachev, who is going to continue to much minutes for the Utah Hockey Club. He’s averaging 26.4 minutes per game this season playing in all situations. While he’ll continue to draw ownership, he’s paying off averaging 10.1 DKFPPG this season.

Brandt Clarke (D, LAK-3, PP1) ($4,400 / $5,600)
DFO Projection: DK – 9.5 / FD
12.4

Brandt Clarke continues to be a great play even though his salary is floating in the mid-$4,000 range on DraftKings. He power play’s the Kings’ top unit, and despite them scoring on just 14.8 percent of their chances this season, they’ll have a great matchup against a middling Sharks penalty kill.

Honourable mention forwards

  1. Nino Niederreiter (W, WPG2, PP2) ($3,100/$4,400): DK – 6.7 / FD – 8.5
  2. Bobby McMann (W, TOR2, PP2) ($3,600/$4,200): DK – 7.6 / FD – 9.7
  3. Tyler Seguin (W, DAL2, PP2) ($3,200/$5,800): DK – 7.0 / FD – 9.2

Top Punt Defensemen

  1. Ian Cole (UTA-2) ($2,700/$3,600): DK – 5.4 / FD – 6.7
  2. Ben Chairot (DET-2) ($2,800/$5,100): DK – 6.9 / FD – 8.6
  3. Luke Hughes (NJD-3) ($4,200/$5,900): DK – 6.7 / FD – 8.9
