Daily Faceoff NHL DFS Value Plays — October 25th
Welcome to Daily Faceoff’s NHL DFS Value Plays, where five days a week from Monday to Friday, I break down hockey’s main slate, looking for the top value plays.
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel for the top forward and defensemen values, as well as honourable mention forwards and three punt options for blue liners. While the main value plays look at spots to get different and their upside, the others revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings, where all the value plays are directed for.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game samples have too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
Pavel Dorofeyev (W, VGK2, PP1) – (DK-$3,300 / FD $5,000)
DFO Projection: DK – 8.1/ FD –
A good chunk of ownership is coming the way of the Golden Knights’ line in thanks to Dorofeyev and Tomas Hertl, who are popping as solid value plays on this four-game slate. While their offensive numbers may not be great, they are both getting time on the top power play unit. Dorofeyev, at his price point, appears to be the stronger play, with strong volume and a good floor on this slate.
Jeff Skinner (W, EDM3, PP1) – ($4,400 / $6,200)
DFO Projection: DK – 8.0/ FD –
Skinner was elevated to the Oilers’ top power play unit, and is going to see little ownership given he’s on the team’s third line. But Skinner has an excellent floor right now, given he’s taken 26 shots on goal at five-on-five this season, second only to Dougie Hamilton and Carter Verhaeghe. Skinner’s also already put up some offensive numbers, with two goals and four points in his first seven games in Edmonton.
Brady Skjei (D, NSH-1, PP2) ($3,600 / $5,900)
DFO Projection: DK – 8.2 / FD –
Skjei seems to be going overlook on this slate in a strong matchup against the Blackhawks. He’s had solid offensive production, and is firing the puck tons — 10 times per hour of ice-time — making him a solid value option.
Alex Vlasic (D, CHI-1, PP1) ($3,100 / $4,500)
DFO Projection: DK – 5.8 / FD –
Speaking of players bumped up to the top power play unit, that’s what’s happened for Alex Vlasic, who already provides value in thanks to his high shot block volume. Opportunity is everything, and he has it.
Honourable mention forwards
- Gustav Nyquist (W, NSH1, PP2) ($3,600/$5,300): DK – 7.9 / FD –
- Mathew Barzal (W, NYI1, PP2) ($5,500/$7,500): DK – 12.8 / FD –
- Tommy Novak (C, NSH3, PP2) ($3,000/$4,600): DK – 6.0 / FD –
Top Punt Defensemen
- Mattias Ekholm (EDM-1, PP2) ($4,400/$5,900): DK – 9.0 / FD –
- Alexandre Carrier (NSH-2) ($2,500/$4,200): DK – 5.7 / FD –
- Adam Pelech (NYI-2) ($2,800/$4,200): DK – 5.8 / FD –
