As Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported first, the Dallas Stars have agreed in principle to acquire forward Max Domi and goaltender Dylan Wells from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Anton Khudobin and a 2025 second-round pick.

Domi has registered a team-leading 49 points (18 goals, 31 assists) 76 penalty minutes and a minus-nine in 60 games this season. He recently played against the Stars last Wednesday, showcasing his talents by registering two goals and an assist. Domi is on pace for his best season since being with the Montreal Canadiens. The 28-year-old was the subject of recent trade rumours especially after the Blackhawks traded franchise forward Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers. Seravalli ranked Domi No. 29 on his latest Trade Targets board. CapFriendly notes that he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Blackhawks in July.

Originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Draft, the Winnipeg, Manitoba product has spent time with the Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes. Last season during the Canes’ Stanley Cup playoff run, he scored a game-winning goal for the club and finished off with six points (three goals, three assists) in 14 playoff games. Domi will be joining the Stars who currently sit in first place in the Central Division with a record of 32-16-13 and a points percentage of .631%. The Stars will also be acquiring goaltender Dylan Wells in the deal. Wells currently plays in the American Hockey League with the Rockford Ice Hogs and has a record of 9-6-1. Wells was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, while he has played one NHL game, Wells has spent the majority of his career so far in the AHL.

The Blackhawks will be acquiring 36-year-old Anton Khudobin. He currently plays in the AHL with the Texas Stars. This season, he has posted a .899 save percentage, a 2.89 goals-against average and a record of 13-3-3 through 24 games. The Russian netminder has a cap hit of $3.3 million and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
