The Dallas Stars have added a little bit more depth for a potential playoff run, as they’ve acquired Vladislav Namestnikov in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Namestnikov is currently on the second season of a two-year contract he signed with the Detroit Red Wings in 2020. He’s bounced around several teams in the past five years, playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche and the Red Wings.

Namestnikov is more known for his more productive days while playing alongside Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov in Tampa Bay. He’s had a bounce-back year with 13 goals and 25 points in 60 games for the Wings but hasn’t quite hit the totals of those more productive years where he had 20 goals and 44 points. Beyond offense, he’s a solid bottom-six defensive forward, which fits right into the Stars’ style of play.

Namestnikov joins a Stars team that is on the outside looking in playoff wise, with a 34-24-3 record. They are just out of a wildcard spot, as they sit a point back of the Vegas Golden Knights with three games in hand. They just had big win over the Capitals Sunday after losing four of their previous five beforehand.
