The Dallas Stars will look to avoid falling into a 3-1 deficit in the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers in Alberta on Tuesday night.

After the Stars took a 1-0 lead on home ice with a 6-3 win in Game 1, the Oilers answered back with two wins in convincing fashion to take command of the series as they look to return to the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight year.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Insider and President of Hockey Content Frank Seravalli discussed the need for Dallas’ top players to step up and keep the team in the series.

Frank Seravalli: They need their stars to step up. I understand the pun, it’s intended there, because look at Mikko Rantanen— very quiet Western Conference Final again, and he’s got 17 points in five games. That means the other 11 games so far that he’s played in the postseason, he has four. He needs to be better; the rest of the Dallas Stars group as a whole needs to be better. They do have a massive opportunity in what’s been a very lopsided series. The Edmonton Oilers have trailed a grand total 14 minutes and two seconds so far through the first three games, but because they had that crazy comeback in the third period of Game 1, they’ve afforded themselves an opportunity here to go back to Dallas all square, kind of against all odds given that they’ve had their doors blown off.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Game 4 is the swing game for a reason, right? If Dallas wins tonight, all of a sudden, it’s like whoa— best of three, they have home ice advantage. And, hey, could Roope Hintz return? Is Jake Oettinger’s best hockey still in front of him? You can start to drum up some positive storylines. If Edmonton can lay the boots to them again, it’s 3-1 and it probably feels like 4-0 at that point.
