Dallas Stars name Misha Donskov as an assistant coach

The Dallas Stars have announced that they have named Misha Donskov as assistant coach.

Donskov will join head coach Pete DeBoer’s staff, which also features Alain Nasreddine and Steve Spott.

Donskov, 46, originally spent three seasons as an assistant coach in the OHL for the London Knights during the 2009-2012 seasons. In his final season with London, he also took on the role of assistant general manager while remaining an assistant coach. Donskov and the Knights eventually won an OHL championship in 2012. Afterwards, Donskov served as an associate coach for the Ottawa 67’s from 2012-2014.

From then on, Donskov became assistant coach and manager of hockey operations/analytics for Hockey Canada’s men’s national team. Over that period, he won gold at both the World Championship and World Junior Championship levels.

Donskov joined the Vegas Golden Knights in 2016, serving as the director of hockey operations until 2019. He then moved behind the bench for Vegas as an assistant coach, helping the team win the 2023 Stanley Cup.

Donskov also had an expansive career before hockey. The 46-year-old previously worked for six years for Cardinal Health, a Fortunate 500 company. While there, he held roles in finance and sales management. Donskov also holds a master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Donskov has found success wherever he has gone so far in his career, whether at the OHL, international, or NHL levels. With the Stars looking to capture their first Stanley Cup since 1999, Donskov being brought on as an assistant coach adds a winning pedigree behind the bench for the organization.
