The Dallas Stars have signed forward Evgenii Dadonov to a two-year contract extension, the club announced Tuesday afternoon.

The 34-year-old forward collected 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 23 games with the Stars after being acquired from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Denis Gurianov at the 2023 trade deadline. He added 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 16 games with the Stars during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dadonov’s new contract with the Stars runs through the end of the 2024–25 season and carries a $2.25 million cap hit. He had been set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The Florida Panthers originally selected Dadonov in the third round (No. 71 overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft. The Chelyabinsk, Russia product made his NHL debut with the Panthers in the 2009–10 season.

Dadonov spent parts of three seasons with the Panthers before returning to the KHL in 2012. Then, five years later, Dadonov signed a new three-year deal to rejoin the Panthers in time for the 2017–18 season.

After emerging as a bona fide top-six forward in his return to Florida, Dadonov signed a three-year contract with the Ottawa Senators as an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

Dadonov spent just one season in Ottawa before being traded to the Vegas Golden Knights; then, after Vegas tried (and failed) to send him to the Anaheim Ducks at the 2022 trade deadline, Dadonov found himself on the move to the Montreal Canadiens in June of 2022.

Through parts of nine NHL seasons with the Panthers, Senators, Golden Knights, Canadiens, and Stars, Dadonov has collected 131 goals and 298 points in 486 games. He’s added four goals and 11 points in 20 career playoff contests.
