Stars sign Ayrton Martino to two-year, entry-level contract

The Dallas Stars announced Monday that the club has signed left winger Ayrton Martino to a two-year, entry-level contract to begin in the 2025-26 season. As part of the agreement, Martino will join the AHL affiliated Texas Stars for the balance of the current season.

Through 39 appearances this season with the NCAA’s Clarkson Golden Knights, Martino paced the squad in all offensive categories counting 25 goals, 26 assists, and 51 points. In recognition of his efforts, Martino was named the ECAC’s Player of the Year and also finished as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top college hockey player. In all, Martino spent four seasons with Clarkson beginning with the 2021-22 campaign where through 37 appearances he scored seven times and added 21 assists for 28 points to earn a spot on the ECAC’s All-Rookie Team. The following year, Martino was named to the ECAC’s Third All-Star Team after posting 38 points counting nine goals and 29 assists in 37 games. After four seasons with Clarkson, Martino totaled 50 goals and 95 assists for 145 points in 144 career contests.

Prior to committing to Clarkson, the 22-year-old Toronto native spent a single season with the USHL’s Omaha Lancers where through 38 outings in 2020-21 he tallied 18 goals and 36 assists for a team-leading 56 points and was recognized on both the USHL’s All-Rookie Team and the Second All-Star Team.

Martino also spent two seasons with the OJHL’s St. Michael’s Buzzers from 2018-20. In his second season, Martino was named to the OJHL’s Second All-Star Team after registering 29 goals and 50 assists for a team-leading 79 points in 48 games. In all, through two seasons with the Buzzers, Martino amassed 39 goals and 82 assists for 121 points in 97 total appearances.

Martino was originally chosen by the Stars in the third round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
