Dallas Stars sign Nick Caamano and Scott Reedy to contracts

The Dallas Stars have continued their busy summer by signing forwards Nick Caamano and Scott Reedy to one-year deals worth $775,000 each.

Caamano, 24, was originally drafted 146th overall in 2016 by the Stars. The 6-foot-3 forward had two goals and 11 points in 29 AHL games with Texas last year before capping off with four goals and six points in eight playoff games.

It was one of his best seasons to date, with Caamano registering 75 points and 194 penalty minutes in 191 AHL games over six years. He also has 36 games of NHL experience, scoring a career-high two points in 12 games during the 2019-20 season. Before turning pro, Caamano was a big addition to the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs in 2017-18, helping the team win the league title.

Reedy, 24, was drafted 102nd overall by San Jose in 2017. The forward had five goals and 13 points in 38 games with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda this year. before getting moved at the deadline. With Texas, Reedy had six goals and 10 points in 18 regular season games and another two points in the playoffs.

The 6-foot-2 forward has struggled to produce in the AHL since going 102nd overall in 2017 with 58 points in 111 games. Reedy showed some promise in the NHL with seven goals and nine points in 35 games but has never managed to stay up in the big leagues.

Both players were depth signings for Texas, with Dallas sitting at $582,171 in cap space. The team has made some interesting moves this summer, including signing forwards Matt Duchene, Craig Smith and Sam Steel, defenseman Gavin Bayreuther and bringing back Joel Hanley on a new two-year deal.
