The Dylan Larkin saga continues in Hockeytown, though the former captain is trying to give himself the best opportunity to be shipped out of town.

According to Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Red Wings center has expanded his list of potential trade destinations to 10 teams.

Larkin made headlines back in June, as the Washington Township, Mich. native asked to be traded from his hometown team. Originally, the list of teams he’d be willing to go to was just the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights. After then-general manager Steve Yzerman wasn’t able to finalize a deal to his liking, Larkin tried to better his chances by adding the Dallas Stars to his list. However, that didn’t seem to work.

Even after Yzerman stepped down as GM, Larkin still wanted out of Detroit. In September, it was reported that Larkin expressed interest in being sent to the Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, or Washington Capitals. Yet, in the past few weeks, nothing has changed, with Larkin having to play games for the Wings to keep his trade value intact.

Now, according to St. James, Larkin would be willing to be traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils or even the upstart Utah Mammoth. He has the ability to determine his future home, as Larkin has a full no-trade clause on his current contract, which carries an AAV of $8.7 million through the 2030-31 campaign.

This news comes a little over a week after Larkin was treated with praise by the faithful at the Bell Centre, as Montreal Canadiens fans chanted “We want Larkin” during the two Original Six rivals’ first meeting this season. The 30-year-old admitted he was surprised by the reaction from Habs fans, but it wasn’t enough to sway the U.S. Olympian to take interest in joining a Canadian team.

Larkin has appeared in six of Detroit’s first eight games, missing the first two due to an apparent injury. No. 71 has been a little productive, scoring a goal and an assist in his return, but has just one assist in his last five contests.

The Red Wings (3-3-2) are in action on Tuesday night, visiting the Seattle Kraken.
