It looks like a former captain is going to step out of the spotlight until he’s moved elsewhere.

In a statement, agent Pat Brisson says his client, Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin, will sit out of the lineup until the Red Wings manage to make a trade.

“Dylan’s had enough of the situation,” Brisson said. “We believe he’s been very professional and cooperative through this process.”

The news comes as the Michigan native was pronounced out for Detroit’s game on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Larkin has been playing for the team that he requested a trade from over the summer. After the Red Wings failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 10th year in a row, Larkin decided he’d had enough, and that he wants to go to a true postseason contender.

With a full no-trade clause, the 30-year-old initially gave the Red Wings three teams to trade him to – theFlorida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights. However, that list has greatly expanded. Larkin is reportedly interested in being sent to 10 different teams, as the Dallas Stars,  Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils or even the upstart Utah Mammoth are destinations that have piqued the interest for the former Michigan Wolverine.

The off-ice drama eventually led to a seismic shift in front office personnel, as Steve Yzerman stepped down as GM, leading to the team promoting Horcoff for the short term.

Despite his request not being granted, Larkin returned to the Wings and has been a solid offensive weapon on a team that has been mediocre out of the gate. In 10 appearances, he has scored two goals and four assists for six points.

Larkin has four more years left on his contract after this season. The deal carries an AAV of $8.7 million through the 2030-31 campaign.
