Patrick Kane has achieved many milestones in his career, and on Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings’ forward accomplished another, scoring his 53rd career shootout goal and becoming the NHL’s all-time leader.

Kane passed his former teammate Jonathan Toews on the all-time shootout goal list, as the two former Chicago Blackhawks were tied with 52 going into Tuesday night.

Kane’s shootout attempt was the only one scored, helping the Red Wings earn a 5-4 win over the Seattle Kraken on the road.

Detroit has now won seven straight, giving them a record of 27-21-5 with 59 points, and the team currently holds the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

This season, the 36-year-old Kane has 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 44 games with the Red Wings. Now in his second season in Detroit, Kane has 31 goals and 46 assists for 77 points in 94 regular-season games.

Now in his 19th NHL season, Kane has become one of the league’s most productive players of the 21st century. In 1,274 career regular-season games, the Buffalo, N.Y., native has 482 goals and 832 assists for 1,314 points with the Red Wings, Blackhawks and New York Rangers.

Kane’s best season was arguably 2015-16, finishing with a league-leading 106 points (46 goals and 60 assists), winning the Art Ross Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award and the Hart Trophy.

Kane, who was taken No. 1 overall by the Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, has found plenty of success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, scoring 53 goals and adding 85 assists for 138 points in 143 playoff games, leading the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships in 2010, 2013 and 2015. In 2013, his nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points led to him being awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP.
