A couple of players have hit the waiver wire on Sunday, as New Jersey Devils winger Adam Beckman and New York Islanders winger Julien Gauthier were placed on waivers by their respective teams.

Beckman, 23, had suffered a lower-body injury during the preseason, so he started the season on the injured non-roster list. Now that he has been cleared to play, he has been placed on waivers so that he can play in the AHL with the Utica Comets.

Beckman spent most of his 2023-24 season in the AHL with the Iowa Wild, where he had 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points in 51 games. He also got into 11 games with the Minnesota Wild, where he had two assists.

Beckman was a third-round pick for the Wild in 2019, and after two more seasons in the WHL, he played his first full pro season in 2021-22, even making his NHL debut with Minnesota during the season. He spent three seasons with the Wild before he was dealt to the Devils in the 2024 offseason.

Gauthier, 27, initially made the Islanders team out of training camp and had been on their NHL roster to start the season. However, he only got into one game, playing on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens where he was held without a point, and the Islanders ultimately decided to send him down to the AHL to get more playing time with the Bridgeport Islanders.

Gauthier played most of his season in the NHL with the Isles last season, where he had 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points in 27 games. He also played 17 games in the AHL, where he had 7 goals, 3 assists and 10 points.

Gauthier was the 21st overall pick for the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2016 NHL Draft, and after one more season in the QMJHL and two in the AHL, he made his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season with the Canes. Later that season, he was dealt to the New York Rangers at the 2020 trade deadline, and he went on to play parts of four seasons for the Rangers before he was dealt to the Ottawa Senators at the 2023 deadline as part of the return for Tyler Motte. After playing out the season, he signed with the Islanders in free agency.
