Devils’ Jacob Markstrom leaves game vs. Bruins with undisclosed injury
New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom left Wednesday’s game against the Boston Bruins with an undisclosed injury. The team would share a social media post from reporter Amanda Stein that confirmed Markstrom was done for the night on social media.

The incident occurred in the second period when Bruins’ forward Justin Brazeau crashed into the Devils’ netminder, causing him to get up slowly and head straight to the locker room.

Before Wednesday’s game, Markstrom was 21-9-5 with a .912 save percentage (SV%) and 2.20 goals against average (GAA) in 35 appearances. Acquired by New Jersey in the offseason, the 34-year-old Markstrom is in his 14th NHL season with a record of 236-205-62 with a .909 SV% and 2.69 GAA with the Devils, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers, who drafted the Swedish goalie in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Going into Wednesday night’s game, the Devils were 26-17-6 with 58 points, third in the Metropolitan Division. The club has been struggling, losing four straight and going 2-5-3 in their last 10 games.
Forward Jack Hughes leads the team in assists and points with 37 and 55, respectively. He also has 18 games. Nico Hischier leads the team in goals with 22, along with 17 assists for 39 points. Dougie Hamilton leads the blue line in scoring with six goals and 23 assists for 29 points.
New Jersey’s next game is Saturday in Quebec as they face the Montreal Canadiens, followed by a trip to the city of Brotherly Love in the Philadelphia Flyers.
