The New Jersey Devils announced Monday the signing of forward Nolan Foote to a one-year, two-way deal through the 2024-25 season.

The deal is worth $825,000 at the NHL level and $150,000 at the AHL level, with a $200,000 guarantee.

The 23-year-old Foote scored one goal in four games with the Devils in 2023-24 after missing the majority of the season with a lower-back injury. The 6-foot-4 forward also played four games with the Devils’ AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, scoring three goals and one assist for four points.

Through his career, Foote has played 23 regular-season games, scoring six goals and two assists for eight points with New Jersey. He’s also played 138 regular-season AHL games, scoring 44 goals and 46 assists for 90 points.

Taken in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Foote spent three seasons in junior with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets, scoring 68 goals and 70 assists for 138 points in 168 regular-season games.

He signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Lightning in June 2019, but was traded to the Devils, along with a 2020 first-round pick, in exchange for Blake Coleman.

Internationally, Foote won a gold medal with Canada at the 2020 World Junior Championship, as well as a gold medal at the Under-18 tournament in 2017.

Last season, the Devils went 38-39-5 with 81 points, seventh in the Eastern Conference’s Metropolitan Division and 10 points out of the second Wild Card spot. Forward Jesper Bratt led the team with 83 points, and 2019 No. 1 overall pick Jack Hughes recorded 74 points in just 62 regular-season games.

The team hired former Toronto Maple Leafs’ head coach Sheldon Keefe as their next bench boss in the offseason.
