New Jersey Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe announced that forward Timo Meier and defenseman Brett Pesce are considered day-to-day.

“The break has been very important. We’ll take advantage of this time and see where they’re at tomorrow.” Keefe told reporters.

Meier has tallied seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 21 games to start the season. Meier is coming off a season where he racked up 28 goals and 24 assists for 52 points in 69 games. The Swiss native missed a dozen games last season due to an upper-body injury.

Meier is in the second year of an eight-year, $70,400,000 contract that has an average annual value of $8.8 million. In 562 career games with the San Jose Sharks and Devils, Meier has totalled 198 goals and 198 assists for 396 points over parts of nine seasons.

Pesce has appeared in 12 games with the club averaging 20:42 minutes of ice time this season.

Pesce signed a six-year contract with the Devils in July, carrying an AAV of $5.5 million through the 2029-30 season. Pesce underwent surgery to repair a fractured fibula that he sustained during last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs with the Carolina Hurricanes, the injury limited Pesce to just two games.

The 30-year-old tallied 13 points in 70 games with the Hurricanes last season.  Throughout his career, playing all games in Carolina, Pesce has notched 39 goals and 159 assists for 198 points, averaging 21:05 of ice time in 627 career games. In 57 post-season games, Pesce has five goals and 16 assists for 21 points, averaging a whopping 23:25 of ice time.
