A slightly smaller number of players hit the waiver wire on the final day of September, as 12 players were made available to 31 other NHL teams on Monday.

Forward Devin Shore was one of the notable names on the list. The 30-year-old veteran signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Minnesota Wild back in July. For many seasons, Shore was an NHL regular, spending lots of time with the Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, and a brief stint with the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, over the past couple of seasons, the Ajax, Ontario native has gone up and down between the NHL and American Hockey League. Last season, while he played 21 games with the Seattle Kraken, he spent most of the season with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds, helping the team advance to the Calder Cup Final.

Justin Bailey looks to be starting another season in the minors. The former Buffalo Sabres draft pick played 59 games with the San Jose Sharks last season, the most Bailey’s ever played in one NHL season. The 29-year-old forward scored five goals and 14 points with the Sharks, playing a handful of games with their primary affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman was the first to report the full list of players on waivers.

Colorado Avalanche: Jacob MacDonald
Edmonton Oilers: Connor Carrick, Cam Dineen
Los Angeles Kings: Jeff Malott
Minnesota Wild: Travis Boyd, Brendan Gaunce, Devin Shore
San Jose Sharks: Justin Bailey, Jimmy Schuldt
St. Louis Blues: Nikita Alexandrov
Utah Hockey Club: Travis Barron, Kevin Connauton

Another name that pops up on Monday’s list is defenseman Connor Carrick. The former Toronto Maple Leaf and New Jersey Devil has bounced around North America over the past few years, having signed with the Kraken and Boston Bruins before signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Oilers this past offseason. He hasn’t appeared in an NHL game since he was with the Bruins in the 2022-23 campaign.

The number of players on waivers on Monday decreased sharply from the previous two days, where a combined 46 players were put on the wire. On Sunday, players from the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, Kings, Wild, Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning were put on waivers, but all of them cleared as of Monday.
