The Edmonton Oilers are once again a contender to win the Stanley Cup, with a record of 39-21-3 with 81 points, second in the Pacific Division. But after the flurry moves made at the Trade Deadline by other Western Conference teams, some are wondering if they could have made another trade.

Their “big move” was bringing in Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the Anaheim Ducks, but is that enough to move the needle?

On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Colby Cohen are joined by former NHLer Luke Gazdic to discuss the Oilers’ Trade Deadline moves and whether they did enough to set themselves up for a Stanley Cup Playoff run.

Tyler Yarmechuk: For weeks leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline, Frank Seravalli and I were talking about this big arm’s race in the Western Conference. The Dallas Stars got Chris Tanev, the Vancouver Canucks got Elias Lindholm, and Edmonton’s move was to go get Adam Henrique.

When you look back at the deadline and see what everyone else did, did the Oilers do enough to keep pace with those other teams?

Luke Gazdic: To be honest, Henrique was a guy I was very high on and said that whoever got him would be a happy team. I played with him in New Jersey and he’s everything you could ask for in a teammate and a hockey player. You can play him at center and the wing, and he’s starving for playoff hockey.

It looks like they didn’t want to tinker too much, and that’s what I was wondering. Did they want to do the money in-money out type of deal where you move out a big piece to bring one in?
