Don’t write off the Tampa Bay Lightning out just yet
With the Florida Panthers up 3-0 in the series on the Tampa Bay Lightning, the brooms are out and the weight is on the Bolts to get themselves back in the series.
Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli talk about why the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions should not be written off just yet.
Tyler Yaremchuk: There will be some brooms out this weekend and last night we got a couple of results that pushed the series to 3-0. I will start with the one that surprised me the most and that’s the Panthers taking a 3-0 lead on the Lightning. I thought the Bolts would have a little more of a push in them, I thought going back to home ice would spark them and that didn’t happen.
Frank Seravalli: What’s the cliche saying, “It’s not a series until a team loses on home ice?” Now you mention the Bolts are staring down the broom. Watching the first three games of the series, the last time that I saw a series where games were played this closely and still had one team having a 3-0 series lead, was Flyers vs. Bruins in 2010.
Frank Seravalli: I remember that series and how close the Flyers were, and I’m not going to sit here and predict a reverse sweep where they come back and win the series 4-3, as that has only happened I think four times in NHL history. That said, I love what head coach Jon Cooper had to say, “You don’t need to show up tomorrow if you don’t believe.” So we will see how many guys show up to the rink today.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Yeah and if I had to pick one of the two matchups that could turn into a series, it’s Florida vs. Tampa.
