Ducks’ James Reimer, Hurricanes’ Riley Stillman placed on waivers; Kaapo Kähkönen re-claimed by Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have re-claimed Kaapo Kähkönen off waivers from the Colorado Avalanche and loaned him to the Jets’ AHL affiliate the Manitoba Moose.

Kähkönen sgned a one-year, $1 million contract with the Jets this past summer after splitting last year between San Jose and New Jersey. Kähkönen was put on waivers by Winnipeg after Eric Comrie won the backup position. Now, the Finnish netminder re-joins the club. In 133 NHL appearances, Kähkönen has a 48-63-15 record with a 3.36 GA, a .898 SV% and three shutouts.

The Anaheim Ducks have placed veteran goaltender James Reimer on waivers. Reimer has an 0-2-0 record so far this season. Reimer signed a one-year contract to join the Buffalo Sabres this past offseason after spending the 2023-24 campaign with the Detroit Red Wings

In his 14-year career, the 36-year-old has appeared in 503 games, with a record 215-179-63, a 2.88 GAA, a .910 SV% and 30 shutouts. He has also made 10 starts in the playoffs, going 5-5 with a 2.70 GAA and .925 SV%.

Meanwhile the Carolina Hurricanes have placed Riley Stillman on waivers. The Canes signed Stillman to a one-year, two-way contract in the summer.

Stillman has bounced around the league over the past five seasons. After being taken by the Florida Panthers in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, he spent two seasons with the organization before he was sent to the Chicago Blackhawks in April 2021, which saw the Panthers receive Lucas Wallmark and Lucas Carlsson.

In 158 career games, the 26-year-old has scored four goals and 22 assists, also appearing in three games with the Panthers during the qualifying round of the 2020 postseason.
