Ducks’ Trevor Zegras seeks second opinion to treat knee injury

Zegras left the Dec. 4 game versus the Vegas Golden Knights following a lower-body injury. He logged seven shifts and 6:08 minutes of ice time before exiting the game following an awkward fall.
The 23-year-old has tallied four goals and six assists for 10 points in 24 games this season playing on the top line.
Zegras is coming off a season that plagued him with injuries, and this blow certainly could raise some concerns. During the 2023-24 season, Zegras was limited to just 31 games, where he collected six goals and nine assists for 15 points.
In October 2023, Zegras signed a three-year contract extension with the Ducks that carries a $5.75 million cap hit. Prior to his injuries, the New York native led the Ducks with 65 points in 81 games during the 2022–23 regular season.
The Ducks originally selected Zegras with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Zegras debuted with the Ducks in the 2020–21 season and was named a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy the following year.
In 234 career games, Zegras has tallied 59 goals and 105 assists for 164 points in that frame.
