EA Sports adds all active coaches to NHL 25

On Monday, EA Sports announced a new patch for NHL 25. The new update reveals the arrival of all 32 coaches in the league, with each bench boss possessing their unique personality and strategies they use in the game in real life.

The update will be noticeable across multiple game modes (including Franchise Mode, Season Mode, Online VS and Play Now), where users can utilize the coaches’ signature traits and schemes they bring to the league.

Part of the coaches’ attributes include their coaching style and strengths as leaders for their respective teams. Each individual’s traits will be distinctly noticeable in how each team plays and develops. One of the examples EA Sports used in a release was that of Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella. His favoritism toward the physical game and ability to develop veterans will be different in the game compared to other coaches.

The head coaches’ strengths and weaknesses in power play, penalty kill, teaching, and influence will make every team an even greater difference from past editions of the game’s series.

Also, each coach’s team history and season-by-season record will be shown in the game and updated based on results within a gamer’s franchise mode and whom they may sign within NHL 25.

For the casual gamer, this update might not seem like a massive change, especially if you only pick up the controller once in a while. However, for the hardcore player who has dove into every game mode the franchise has ever put out, the intricacy of each coach will allow users to alter their strategy based on the coaching style to better their chances of coming out on top.

Also, visually, it will be nice to see Paul Maurice’s face behind the Florida Panthers bench rather than some AI-generated character that shows little resemblance.
