Oilers re-sign Noah Philp to one-year, two-way contract
On Monday, the Edmonton Oilers announced that the team has re-signed forward Noah Philp to a one-year, two-way contract extension. The deal carries an NHL AAV of $775,000 for the 2025-26 season.

Philp has been with the organization since signing with the Oilers in April 2022 after three years at the University of Alberta. The Canmore, Alberta native spent the end of the 2021-22 campaign and the entire 2022-23 season with Edmonton’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.
However, external factors led to Philp taking an entire year off from hockey. Yet, after sitting out the 2023-24 season to relax and reflect, he re-signed with the Oilers for one year, signing a similar deal to what the team made official on Monday.
The move paid off. Philp ended up working his way up to the main roster, making his NHL debut on Oct. 31 against the Nashville Predators, registering an assist in a 5-1 win. The 26-year-old had a series of call-ups to Edmonton over the season, leading to him appearing in 15 games. Philp posted a pair of assists and a plus/minus of +1, while averaging a little over nine minutes of ice time per game.
His performance at the AHL level was also prosperous. The rejuvenated center scored 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 55 games for the Condors, posting a better point-per-game average than he did during his rookie season in Bakersfield.
In 130 AHL appearances, which included two games with the Stockton Heat, then the primary affiliate of the Calgary Flames, in 2018-19, Philp has scored 38 goals and 34 assists for 72 points. He also has one assist in five Calder Cup Playoff games.
With Philp and Kasperi Kapanen signing extensions, the Oilers are projected to have a little over $13 million in cap space next season, according to CapWages. Edmonton still has to work on a contract for pending restricted free agent defenseman Evan Bouchard.
