The Edmonton Oilers announced that they have signed forward Cameron Wright to a one-year, two-way contract worth $925,000.

Wright spent the 2023-24 season with the Oilers’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Bakersfield Condors where he tallied 12 goals and nine assists for 21 points in 48 games.

Before joining the Condors, Wright spent the 2022-23 season in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies where he racked up 29 goals and 34 assists for a team-leading 63 points in 64 games.

The Newmarket, Ontario native spent five seasons split between Bowling Green State University and Denver University of the NCAA amassing 74 goals and 61 assists for 135 points in 185 NCAA games. Wright won an NCAA Championship with Denver in 2021-22.

Meanwhile, the Oilers have announced that Matt Savoie has been recalled. Savoie was acquired this summer from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio. Savoie spent the majority of the 2023-24 season in the WHL with the Wenatchee Wild and the Moose Jaw Warriors, where he had 30 goals and 41 assists for 71 points in just 34 games. He then went on to get 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 19 games as the Warriors won the Ed Chynoweth Cup, and then had one goal and four points in four games during the Memorial Cup.

The 20-year-old also appeared in six games in the AHL with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans where he registered two goals and three assists for five points in six games.
