Edmonton Oilers sign Justin Bailey to PTO
After he did not receive a qualifying offer from the Vancouver Canucks this offseason, the Edmonton Oilers could be a potential landing spot for 27-year-old Justin Bailey.
According to Jason Gregor, the Oilers have signed Bailey to a professional tryout contract.
The forward spent the last three seasons in the Canucks organization, primarily with their AHL affiliate (the Abbotsford Canucks and before relocation, the Utica Comets).
During the 2021-22 season, he played 14 games with Vancouver but failed to collect a single point. In 30 games with Abbotsford, he tallied 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points.
Bailey was sidelined for almost the entirety of the 2020-21 season after sustaining a shoulder injury from a hit by Milan Lucic in a matchup between Vancouver and the Calgary Flames at the start of the year, which ultimately required surgery.
Drafted 52nd overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Bailey has appeared in a total of 82 NHL games and 296 AHL games to this point in his professional career. He had a brief stint in the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization during the 2018-19 season.
