The Edmonton Oilers go into Game 4 on Thursday night down 2-1 to the Florida Panthers, hoping to climb back in the Stanley Cup Final. While we don’t want to look too far ahead, there are questions about what the future holds for an Oilers group that has a number of players who will either be restricted or unrestricted free agents on July 1.

On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk are joined by Daily Faceoff’s Jason Gregor for the latest edition of The All 32 to discuss the Stanley Cup Final and if what the future holds for the Oilers – win or lose.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I know this may be premature to be talking about offseason moves in the Stanley Cup Final, but win or lose, how different do you think this Oilers roster is next season? Do you think they’re pretty committed to running it back with a very similar group?

Jason Gregor: Well, it’s going to be different, because Evan Bouchard is going to jump up $6.5 or $7 million. That’s going to change some things. They’re going to lose some guys to free agency. It’s always different, I don’t think you can ever stay status quo. I know he got healthy scratched today, but I don’t think John Klingberg was coming back. A right-handed defenseman who can move the puck, he’ll be outside of Edmonton’s price range.

Trent Frederic – I fully expect will be back in Edmonton. Connor Brown, eh, maybe. I think it’ll depends. I do believe for some guys, it will depend on if they win. If you win, now you can say, “Hey, I’ve got my Cup, do I want to take less again in Edmonton or do I take a three-year deal on the open market?”
