Emma Maltais signs three-year deal with PWHL Toronto
The PWHL’s Toronto franchise announced they signed Emma Maltais to a three-year contract on Friday.
The club drafted Maltais in the second round of the PWHL Draft last September.

‘’I’m incredibly excited to have signed my first professional contract with Toronto,” said Maltais. “I’ve dreamed for an opportunity like this since I was a little girl, and I cannot wait to get the training camp going!”
The Burlington, Ont. native won Olympic gold with Canada during the 2022 Beijing Olympics. She also won two World Championship golds in 2021 and 2022. She twice represented Canada at the Women’s U18 Championship in 2016 and 2017, earning two silver medals.

The 23-year-old was ranked fourth in the Top NCAA/USports prospects list by The Hockey News. Through five seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Maltais set the school’s all-time scoring record with 206 points (66 goals and 140 assists) in 169 games. During her junior year in 2019-20, she set the Ohio State single-season scoring record with 59 points (19 goals and 40 assists).
She was twice nominated for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and named to three All-WCHA First Team selections, as well as three WCHA All-Academic Team honours.
