Our Weekend Streamers series aims to help you steal your matchup by getting the most value possible out of the limited transactions in your fantasy league. Every Friday, we break down the teams and players with the most streamer-friendly schedules over the weekend.

This weekend features two games on Friday, 15 on Saturday, and three on Sunday. Unfortunately, there are no teams playing on both Friday and Sunday this weekend. Any skaters you decide to pick up are going to be limited to a single game played. With that in mind, we’re going to change it up this week and shift our attention to the crease. Let’s check out this weekend’s best spot starts in goal. Happy streaming!

Alex Nedeljkovic (G – 7% Owned)

Nedeljkovic is in line for a lot more work after Tristan Jarry‘s reassignment to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL, and he’s already the confirmed starter for Friday night’s game in Buffalo. Nedeljkovic has endured an up-and-down season himself, to put it lightly, posting a 7-7-4 record and an .886 SV% across 19 appearances. He was awful his last time out, allowing five goals on 17 shots in a 5-0 loss to the Senators on Saturday. Obviously there is a lot of risk here, but the Penguins are only slight underdogs on the money line in Buffalo tonight. And above all else, Nedeljkovic is the only widely available starting goalie on Friday night’s slate. If you’re desperate for a start in goal tonight, Nedeljkovic is worth a roll of the dice.

Casey DeSmith (G – 11% Owned)

Unlike Friday night, Sunday actually projects to give us a handful of options in goal, and DeSmith looks to be the cream of that crop. The Stars travel to Denver to take on the mighty Avalanche for the front-end of their back-to-back on Saturday, a game that we can almost guarantee they will want to have starter Jake Oettinger between the pipes for. That would leave DeSmith to take on the Red Wings at home on Sunday.

The Red Wings have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL under new head coach Todd McLellan, but they’ll be travelling on a back-to-back themselves and will most likely have Ville Husso in goal. The Stars should be sizable favourites in this one and DeSmith has been good when called upon this season, registering a .913 SV% in 13 appearances. The sooner you can get DeSmith on your roster this weekend the better because his ownership is set to skyrocket on Sunday.

Jakub Dobes (G – 20% Owned)

Though he only has four NHL starts to his name, Dobes is quickly making a name for himself in fantasy hockey circles. The monstrous 23-year-old goaltender is enjoying an unbelievable start to his career, registering one shutout while posting a perfect 4-0-0 record and a .963 SV%. Despite this early success, the Canadiens are managing the workload of their young netminder. He’s yet to start back-to-back games, which suggests Sam Montembeault should be the projected starter against the Maple Leafs on Saturday. That would leave Dobes to take on the Rangers at home on Sunday.

Despite winning three of their last four games, the 2024-25 New York Rangers are still not the powerhouse they used to be. The Habs should be slight underdogs at worst in this game. Given Dobes’ phenomenal splits to start his career, those are odds that are worth taking on such a small slate. This is a young, athletic goaltender on an improving hockey team that could quickly play himself out of the streaming category. I suggest grabbing him this weekend if you still can and making room for him on your roster until this heater cools off.
