Flames’ Jacob Markstrom is week-to-week with fractured finger; Dustin Wolf recalled from AHL
The Calgary Flames announced on Tuesday that goaltender Jacob Markstrom will be week-to-week with a fractured finger, but surgery will not be required.
The club also announced that Dustin Wolf had been recalled from their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers.

Markstrom, 33, suddenly left practice Monday after taking a shot to the hand. Sportsnet 960 reporter Pat Steinberg reported that the puck appeared to hit the inside of Markstrom’s blocker hand, where there’s little to no padding.

The Swedish netminder is in his fourth season with the Flames, recording a 6-8-2 record with an .896 save percentage in 16 appearances in 2023-24. He has an 88-63-25 record in 181 appearances across four seasons with Calgary.
Through his 14 NHL seasons with the Flames, the Vancouver Canucks and the Florida Panthers, Markstrom has a 198-181-57 record with a .909 save percentage in 453 appearances.
Wolf, whom the Flames selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, has two career NHL games — one last season, one this season. He stopped 34 of 38 shots in his Nov. 11 appearance, losing 4-1 to the Ottawa Senators. In 13 games with the AHL’s Wranglers this season, Wolf is 10-3-0 with a .920 save percentage and two shutouts.
The 22-year-old goaltender has found success at every level of hockey he’s played, winning the Del Wilson Trophy, awarded to the Western Hockey League’s best goaltender, in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. Wolf also won the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award, given to the best goalie in the AHL, in both 2021-22 and 2022-23.
